Eric J. Grilly, an experienced and respected leader in the field of digital news and information, is the President of Philadelphia's #1 website, philly.com, the website for Philadelphia Media Holding's newspapers, the Philadelphia Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News.<br/> <br/> Mr. Grilly is responsible for all of philly.com's digital operations including strategy, content, new product and business development and technology, as well as finance and administrative functions.<br/> <br/> Prior to taking the reins of philly.com in March 2007, Mr. Grilly was President and CEO of MediaNews Group Interactive, one of the country's largest newspaper companies. During his tenure there he was responsible for the strategic direction of the group's interactive media operations as well as its technology investments. Mr. Grilly and his team at MediaNews Group Interactive produced numerous award-winning sites garnering a corporate reputation for innovation and leadership in the field.<br/> <br/> Before joining MediaNews Group Interactive, Mr. Grilly was a Vice President of the Denver Post, responsible for the newspaper's website, DenverPost.com. Under his leadership, DenverPost.com became the most-trafficked news and information website in Colorado and was highlighted in 1999 by The Industry Standard, as one of the biggest gainers in the "most addictive sites on the web" category. In addition, in the following year DenverPost.com received the annual "Edgie," or Digital Edge Online Award for Public Service for newspapers with a circulation exceeding 250,000, from the Newspaper Association of America.<br/> <br/> Mr. Grilly began his media career while still in college as the owner and publisher of Slate Magazine, a monthly alternative publication distributed to the University of California, Davis's student population. After college, he joined the staff of the Sacramento Bee where he worked as Marketing Sales Manager as well as the Advertising Director of Spectrum Newspaper, the Sacramento Bee's paper dedicated to the 55+ demographic. Immediately prior to his stint at DenverPost.com, Mr. Grilly was the Vice President of Sales at Nando Media, then the new media arm of the McClatchy Company, as well as Director for New Media Marketing and Sales at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.<br/> <br/> Raised in Alaska, Mr. Grilly earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from University of California, Davis. He is currently a member of the Young President's Organization and serves as President of the Newspaper Association of America's Digital Federation Board.<br/> <br/>
