Bed Bath & Beyond is making a comeback in the Philly region and beyond
Bed Bath & Beyond declared bankruptcy in 2023. Now, the brand is coming back to the Philly area — but under a new store model.

Bed Bath & Beyond is coming back to the Philadelphia area.
The home goods company filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and shuttered its stores. Now, the Bed Bath & Beyond brand is relaunching across the country under a new model.
Bed Bath & Beyond products will be added to 98 locations of the Container Store in the coming months, the company announced last week.
The first combined store opened in Fort Worth, Texas, this month, and the Container Store sites at the Cherry Hill Mall and the King of Prussia Mall are among those that are expected to soon be converted to the dual-branded store concept.
“By bringing together the strengths of these two iconic brands, we’re creating a more connected shopping experience that combines inspiration, organization, solutions and value for customers across every room in the home,” Amy Sullivan, Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. president said in a statement this month.
In April 2023, Bed Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and began to close stores. The company had local stores in Cherry Hill, Deptford, Exton, Jenkintown, Newtown, and Warrington, as well as its BuyBuy Baby branded stores in Cherry Hill, Deptford, and Lansdale.
The following June, Overstock.com, the online home-furnishings retailer, acquired the brand in a $21.5 million deal, and later relaunched it online, the Associated Press reported.
Overstock.com rebranded to Beyond Inc. in 2023 and later to Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. in 2025.
The new store format comes as the Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. CEO told shareholders in a letter last month that it had entered into an agreement to acquire the Container Store. The deal, valued at $150 million, was expected to close in July.
In the letter, CEO Marcus Lemonis said the acquisition of the Container Store would add over 100 locations to the company’s portfolio with the existing sites representing over 2.2 million square feet of retail space.
In April, Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced that the Container Store locations in King of Prussia Mall and Cherry Hill Mall were among those that were making way for Bed Bath & Beyond products by holding liquidation sales.
On Tuesday, the Cherry Hill location had a sign reading: “Store changing.”
