Penn State picked up four oral commitments from prospective recruits over the weekend, including a defensive tackle from Europe in its 2019 class and its first pledge for the class of 2021.

Joseph Appiah Darkwa, a 6-foot-5, 270-pound tackle from Germany, announced his commitment on Friday, less than a month after receiving an offer from the Nittany Lions. The website Lions247 said Darkwa, who has a three-star rating, had visited Rutgers and UCLA in addition to Penn State, and also received offers from Colorado, Indiana and Virginia.

The next national signing day for class of 2019 recruits is Wednesday.

Jacobs received offers from Florida, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Wisconsin, while Moten was pursued by Michigan, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

The first recruit committed to Penn State for the class of 2021 is 6-4, 178-pound wide receiver Dont’e Thorton of Baltimore, according to Lions247.
