Penn State stayed put at No. 15 in this week’s first Associated Press regular-season top 25 poll released Tuesday.

The Nittany Lions remained at their preseason ranking following a 79-7 rout of FCS opponent Idaho in their season opener Saturday. They scored their second-highest total in a game since 1921, and gained 673 yards of total offense, third-highest since 1947.

The top seven in the poll stayed the same -- Clemson at No. 1, followed by Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Louisiana State, and Michigan.

Notre Dame and Texas each moved up one slot to eighth and ninth, respectively. Auburn, thanks to a 27-21 win over Oregon, was the week’s big gainer, moving up from No. 16 to No. 10.
