Offensive lineman Maleek McNeil, of Williston Northampton School in Easthampton, Mass., has made an oral commitment to Penn State, the Nittany Lions’ ninth member of the freshman class of 2022.

The 6-foot-8, 340-pound McNeil chose the Nittany Lions Saturday over his other two finalists, Rutgers and Boston College. He also had received offers from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, and Duke.

“Long time coming and I can’t wait to get to work and be a part of this amazing program,” McNeil said in his Twitter account.

McNeil was ranked as the No. 7 prospect in Massachusetts by Rivals and No. 8 by 247Sports. Both recruiting web sites gave him three stars.

McNeil is the second offensive lineman and the eighth offensive player to be part of Penn State’s 2022 class.
