Despite multiple miscues, Penn held off Cornell, 92-86, to extend its winning streak to four games.

Penn (13-11, 5-4 Ivy) shot 51.7% from the field, including 47.8% from three, and scored the second-most points of the season.

Junior guard Jordan Dingle impressed yet again with 27 points and seven rebounds on 9-of-17 shooting, while senior Greg Dolan led Cornell (15-7, 5-4) with 29 points, five rebounds, and four assists on 12-of-18 shooting.

Lucas Monroe’s presence was felt all over the floor, as the senior forward totaled 12 points, 13 rebounds (six offensive), and five assists.

Close calls

Penn jumped out to an early lead but held just a 42-40 halftime advantage because of poor rebounding and missed opportunities at the free-throw line — the Quakers hit just 6 of 14 first-half free-throw attempts and shot 59.4% from the line for the game.

An early 9-2 Quaker run spearheaded by Dingle pulled Penn in front, 19-12, but Dolan sparked a 12-0 Cornell run as part of his 18-point first half.

Sharpshooting down the stretch

Cornell’s full-court trap continued to cause issues for the Quakers in the second half. Penn committed 14 turnovers, leading to 19 points off turnovers for the Big Red.

Dingle then drained a three to extend the lead to 74-66 with 8 minutes, 9 seconds remaining as Penn was able to weave together quick passes up the floor to generate open looks and hit 5 of 10 threes in the second half.

All starters finished in double digits on 21 team assists. Clark Slajchert (13 points), Max Martz (13 points, eight rebounds), and Nick Spinoso (10 points, six assists) rounded out the Quakers.

Up next

Penn will embark on a one-game road trip to Harvard (12-11, 3-6 Ivy) on Saturday (2 p.m., ESPN+).
