St. Joseph’s is promoting assistant coaches Bino Ranson and Thomas Boyle to the title of associate head coach, the school announced Friday.

“Bino has been an invaluable member of our staff, bringing tremendous passion, boundless energy, and a relentless work ethic to everything he does,” head coach Steve Donahue wrote in a statement. “He is an outstanding recruiter who has played a key role in attracting talented student-athletes who embody the values and competitiveness of our program.”

Ranson was hired in May 2025 under former coach Billy Lange as the team’s recruiting coordinator. Prior to joining the Hawks, Ranson spent two seasons at DePaul and was at Maryland from 2010 to 2021 under former Terrapins head coach Mark Turgeon.

Maryland made five NCAA Tournament appearances while Ranson was on staff. He also developed players including Alex Len, Jalen Smith, and Kevin Huerter during his time in College Park.

Boyle is a 2015 St. Joe’s graduate who served as a student manager under Phil Martelli and is the grandson of former St. Joe’s coaches Jim Lynam and the late Jim Boyle.

In 2018, he was the director of player operations before being elevated to an assistant coach for the last two seasons.

“Tom has been an integral part of our staff, demonstrating unwavering commitment, professionalism, and a deep understanding of the game,” Donahue said. “His work ethic, leadership, and ability to connect with our student-athletes have made a lasting impact on our program both on and off the court.”
