Temple has announced the addition of Wisconsin transfer Tai Strickland to its basketball program.

A 6-foot-2 guard, Strickland will have to sit out the 2019-2020 season due to NCAA transfer rules, but will have three years of eligibility left when he returns.

Strickland, whose father Rod was a long-time NBA guard, averaged 1.8 points in 16 games in his lone season at Wisconsin.

Rod Strickland was a former NBA teammate of Temple coach Aaron McKie with the Portland Trail Blazers from 1994-96.

“Tai is a very skilled athlete and a terrific young man who comes from a wonderful family,” McKie said in a statement released by the school. “He has a superb attitude and a high basketball IQ. We look forward to him playing a key role in the future for our program.”

As a senior at Florida’s St. Petersburg High, Strickland averaged 17 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals.
