Brian Perkins was released as Temple’s men’s crew coach, ending a seven-year run at the university.

Perkins, a Temple alumnus who was a two-time Dad Vail champion rower for the Owls, will be replaced by men’s assistant Fergal Barry in the interim as a search for the next head coach is underway. Under Perkins, Temple was a nationally ranked program whose varsity eight boats won multiple regattas and still hold records in the Dad Vail.

This past season, Temple’s varsity four program posted its second-fastest time in advancing to the final of the IRA National Championships, a race in which the Owls took home a silver medal.

“I would like to thank Coach Perkins for his service to Temple University,” said Owls athletics director and vice president Arthur Johnson. “He is a proud alumnus and has been a dedicated coach and steward of the men’s crew program. I wish him the best in the future.”
