Independent Lens: Charm City. Director Marilyn Ness first won the trust of the people participating in this look at neighborhoods in Baltimore during a turbulent period in the city’s history by showing up for months without the cameras. Filming began a few months before the 2015 death of Freddie Gray in police custody and continued long after the national news teams left. 10 p.m. Monday, April 22, WHYY12.
Gentleman Jack. From Sally Wainwright (Happy Valley, Last Tango in Halifax) comes this new historical drama about Anne Lister, a 19th-century Englishwoman who lived by her own rules and left behind diary accounts of her love affairs with women. A co-production between HBO and the BBC, it stars Suranne Jones as Lister. 10 p.m. Monday, April 22, HBO.
Being Mary Jane. Fans of the addictive Gabrielle Union series about a TV newswoman with a complicated personal life won’t want to miss the two-hour movie that wraps up the story. 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, BET.

Frontline: The Abortion Divide. Thirty-six years after Frontline went to an abortion clinic in Chester to film a story tied to the 10-year anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the PBS news magazine comes to the Philadelphia Women’s Center to look at the still divisive issue through the eyes of patients, providers, and protesters. It also visits a pregnancy counseling center that steers women away from abortions and offers them support (but not birth control), and a shelter in Upper Darby for pregnant women and new mothers. 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, WHYY12.
