Authorities probe school-bus fires in the Far NE

Suspicious fires damaged several public school buses in a Northeast Philadelphia storage yard on Saturday night less than a month after arsonists allegedly targeted several other buses in the same yard.

The latest episode was the third major incident of vandalism on the site at 3801 Woodhaven Road, adjacent to the Camelot School – Shallcross.

This time, firefighters were called to extinguish flames on three buses at about 8 p.m. On Sunday, April 17, an afternoon blaze damaged three buses heavily.

Sometime between the two fire incidents, vandals broke into the yard and smashed windows on 12 buses, police said.

The first incident has been ruled arson. The latest remains under investigation by the fire marshal. Police are investigating all three and have not named any suspects.
