Temple University student shot and killed by another student in North Philly, officials say
The fatal shooting of the Temple University student may have been sparked by an argument over drugs, police said.

A 20-year-old Temple University student from Maryland was shot and killed Thursday night near the university’s campus in North Philadelphia by another student who is now charged with murder, police said.
Around 11 p.m., police responded to a 911 call for a person with a gun on the 1500 block of North Carlisle Street and found Chase Myles lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.
Myles, of Bowie, Md., was transported by police to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:15 p.m.
Nicholas Iaderosa, 23, of the 1400 block of North Carlisle, was arrested at the scene and two 9mm handguns were recovered, police said.
Police believe both Iaderosa and Myles were armed, and that the shooting erupted during an argument that may have been about drugs, said Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore.
In a statement, Temple University president John Fry confirmed that both the victim and his alleged assailant were students at the university.
“A loss like this is deeply painful for the Temple community, and we recognize the impact our student’s loss of life will have on their family, friends, and all who knew them,” Fry said.
