Those for whom regular boxing isn't enough will revel in the Ring of Combat XIV championships. Mixed martial arts means that just about anything goes. The Ring of Combat Web site has a long list of things that fighters can't do, but basically it is anything that is vaguely allowed in boxing and wrestling. Tonight's card has eight bouts in various weight classes, with each winner taking home $12,500.
Tropicana Casino and Resort, Brighton and the Boardwalk, 9 tonight, $50-$150, 609-340-4020, www.tropicana.net.
They make you wanna shout!
The Isley Brothers claim to be the only group to have top-40 hits in five different decades, but whatever their statistical record, they have had a big influence in rock and soul music. From the seminal "Shout!" to "It's Your Thing" to the oft-covered "Nobody But Me," the Isleys have been mainstays in R&B, pop, rock and soul. These days, there are more back-ups than regular Isleys - most times only Ronald of the original six, as in tonight's show.
Borgata Casino Resort & Spa, One Borgata Way, 9 tonight, $75, 609-317-1000, www.theborgata.com.
Tragically Hip here
The Tragically Hip is one of those Canadian bands that play sold-out arenas north of the border and have to deal with a cult following in these parts. So the House of Blues seems a perfect place for these 40-plus-year-old rockers to play. Sometimes lead singer Gordon Downie goes off into improvised monologues. Not your normal casino showroom group, but they work hard in the corners.
