Murder inmate is found hanged in his cell

SOMERSET, Pa. - State police are investigating the death of an inmate found hanging in his cell in the State Correctional Institution at Somerset.

Victor Hassine, 52, was found late Sunday. Officials at the state's Department of Corrections say staff attempted to resuscitate Hassine.

Convicted in 1981, Hassine was serving a life sentence for a Bucks County murder.

He had been in the Somerset prison since November 2004. A law school graduate, Hassine wrote the book, "Life Without Parole." *
