N.J. driver accused of trying to kill cop

BUENA, N.J. - A Vineland man has been charged with attempted murder after, police said, he struggled with an officer who had tried to arrest him and fired four shots from the officer's service weapon before being subdued.

BUENA, N.J. - A Vineland man has been charged with attempted murder after, police said, he struggled with an officer who had tried to arrest him and fired four shots from the officer's service weapon before being subdued.

None of the rounds struck the officer, and he was not injured.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said the incident began shortly before noon when the accused, Daniel Szturma, 32, sped off after Officer Eric Hollinger of state Department of Human Services tried to stop his vehicle.

Minutes later, the prosecutor's office said, Hollinger spotted Szturma behind an auto-body shop, and their struggle ensued.

Szurtma was being held at the Atlantic County Jail on $1 million cash bail. *
