Cops: He stabbed mom, killed her beau

TOMS RIVER, N.J., - Bail is set at $1 million for a man accused of repeatedly stabbing his mother and killing her boyfriend at her home in Tuckerton.

Michael Cahill, 41, is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a knife for an unlawful purpose.

Cahill was arrested Tuesday after police arrived at the home of his mother, Meredith, 65. Her boyfriend, Kenneth Robinson, 63, was dead. Meredith remained in critical condition yesterday with multiple stab wounds.

The Asbury Park Press reports that Michael Cahill was found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2003 in the accidental fatal shooting of a Little Egg Harbor woman. He was released from a psychiatric hospital in 2006.
