Villanova falls in title game

Caroline Coyer scored 13 points and Katherine Coyer and Megan Quinn each added 11 for the Wildcats (5-3), who had an 11-point lead midway through the third period.

Devon Brookshire added 12 points for the Gaels (7-2). Stella Beck chipped in with 10.

FLORIDA ST. 75, TEMPLE 47

Shakayla Thomas had 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Seminoles overcame an eight-point, second-quarter deficit to top the visiting Owls.

Tanaya Atkinson scored 14 points and Donnaizha Fountain added 13 for Temple (3-4), which led 20-18 after the first period and 28-20 before FSU closed the half with a 14-2 run.

Ivey Slaughter added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Leticia Romero had 12 points for the Seminoles (7-1).

UMBC 60, LA SALLE 29

Laura Castaldo scored 17 points as the Retrievers suffocated the visiting Explorers.

Adreana Miller scored nine points to lead La Salle (1-7), which trailed by 13-3 after one period and by as many as 33 in the fourth. Ashanti Freeland snagged 13 rebounds.

Amanda Hagaman totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds for UMBC (4-3).
