Ga. Southern guard transfers to La Salle
Cleon Roberts, who started as a freshman at Georgia Southern last season, will be eligible to play for Explorers in 2014-15.
T HE LA SALLE basketball team has added a transfer, Cleon Roberts, a 6-6, 175-pound guard who started all 32 games and averaged 8.5 points per game as a freshman at Georgia Southern.
"Cleon gives us an athletic, scoring guard with excellent size," coach John Giannini said. "He has a great deal of potential, which I am confident he will reach because of his excellent work ethic."
Roberts connected on 41 three-pointers, second on the team, making 39 percent. He scored 18 points in his college debut vs. Valparasio and posted a career-high 20 points in a win at Virginia Tech and at the Citadel.
Roberts will be eligible to play during the 2014-15 season after sitting out a year because of NCAA transfer regulations.
