About the Sharks: Aaron Garcia, one of the all time Arena League quarterbacks, saw his first action of the season filling in for one play after starter R.J. Archer was banged up during a sack in last week's win over Tampa Bay. Garcia threw a 24-yard touchdown pass. At some point, maybe even this week, Garcia will supplant Archer as the starter even though Archer is fourth in the league in touchdown passes (22) and fifth in passing yards (1,003) . . . Reacquired wide receiver Jomo Wilson in a trade with San Antonio this week. Wilson set the team record with 44 TD catches in 2011 when Jacksonville won the ArenaBowl . . . Also acquired free-agent WR Andrae Thurman, who had 117 catches for the Soul last year.

About the Soul: The angels sang and the ticket office rejoiced when the Soul won last week. This is the home opener and an 0-4 record would have been a tough sell . . . QB Dan Raudabaugh completed 20 of 22 passes in last week's win at Orlando to earn the league's offensive player of the week . . . Second-year WR Ryan McDaniel continues to lead the team in receptions (35), receiving yards (409) and TD catches (eight) . . . The Soul acquired defensive back Fred Shaw from San Antonio yesterday. Shaw (6-2, 220) was second-team all-AFL last season. His acquisition completes a deal from earlier in the week when the Soul traded DB Kyle Whitehurst to the Talons.

Up next: The Soul hosts Iowa next Sunday, April 27, at 4 p.m.
