Soul wins home opener

Defense plays a big part in 54-41 win over Jacksonville on Saturday.

RAYSHAUN KIZER led a solid defensive effort as the Soul beat Jacksonville, 54-41, in the team's home opener on Saturday.

Kizer had 10 1/2 tackles, the most by a Soul defender this season, and rookie Teddy Jennings had 2 1/2 sacks as Philadelphia held the Sharks' offense to five touchdowns.

Dan Raudabaugh overcame three interceptions and threw four touchdowns as the Soul (2-3) won its second in a row. Tiger Jones caught three TDs and Ryan McDaniel the other. McDaniel's score was from 49 yards, the longest possible on a 50-yard AFL field.

The Soul hosts Iowa on Sunday (4 p.m., ESPN2).
