National Weather Service: Expect increased snowfall totals ahead of Sunday's game

Things just got a little interesting for fans headed to Sunday’s divisional playoff game against the Rams or planning to venture out and watch away from home.

According to the latest report from the National Weather Service, the Philadelphia area could expect to see as much as four to six inches of snowfall on Sunday.

Those figures were from the latest model the NWS’ Mount Holly office released around 4 p.m. on Friday and were up 1-2 inches from the one released on Friday morning, which suggested the region might only see 3-4 inches of snow.

Eagles to give $500,000 to support California wildfire victims and more

In response to the wildfires that have devastated much of Southern California, the Eagles have pledged $500,000 to the California Community Foundation, a nonprofit created specifically to support those displaced.

The team has also pledged the proceeds from Sunday's 50/50 raffle to go to the American Red Cross' relief efforts and have in-stadium signage to urge fans to help with their efforts.

Additionally, the team plans to do one or more of the following:

  1. Donate to the Best Friends Animal Society and the Providence Animal Center to support animals in the Great Los Angeles region.

  2. Auction off game-worn memorabilia and other items from Sunday's game against the Rams, and

  3. Provide prizes to Santa Monica-based Eagles bar, the Britannia Pub, that can be auctioned off during a scheduled watch party.

The demand is real for Eagles-centric boutique, Jawn Supply

Saturday morning is slated to be a real treat inside West Chester sports boutique, Jawn Supply.

The shop, which sources and sells premium vintage athletic gear in just about every shade of Eagles green, is preparing for Saturday's 10 a.m. drop of its latest finds just in time for Sunday's divisional game against the Rams.

“You just wait,” said Ben Rowe, owner of the 2-year-old shop, his crystal blue eyes twinkling under a Specialties Script corduroy Eagles cap circa 1988, the height of the Birds' Leprechaun green era. “We were planning to drop around 100 pieces Saturday morning, but it’s looking more like 200. This is our biggest drop ever.”

Jeff McLane's prediction for Eagles-Rams

The Rams that the Eagles will face on Sunday are better than the team they saw in Week 12. They’ve won six of their last seven and their one loss was a rollover in the season finale in which starters were rested. Coach Sean McVay has his squad back in the mix after an impressive victory over the 14-win Minnesota Vikings in the wild-card round, and some are predicting an upset over the 6-point favorite Eagles.

Can the Rams pull it off? Sure. But they’re going to have to play near-perfect football and hope for some uncharacteristic mistakes because the Eagles have the advantage in most matchups.

The Rams' path to victory requires them to travel across the country and play in possible inclement weather. Matthew Stafford and McVay know what it takes to win in the postseason and on the road. The Rams have that going for them. But they just don’t have the depth and one of their main strengths — their D-line — will likely be neutralized by the Eagles’ O-line.

How much snow will fall during Eagles-Rams? Here's the latest forecast

There's increasing confidence snow will be falling in Philadelphia Sunday when the Eagles face the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of playoffs.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said there’s still uncertainty about the storm, pegging the chances of two or more inches of snowfall in Philadelphia Sunday around 72%. Their current forecast is calling for three to four inches of snow in Philadelphia.

The snow is expected to begin as early as Sunday morning and continue through the evening, which would also drop the temperature during the game, something the Rams haven’t had to deal with much.

Roger Goodell says 18-game season 'logical' next step, hints at NFL franchises overseas

Are you reading for an 18-game season? Because Roger Goodell is.

During an interview on Bloomberg Television recorded earlier this month, the NFL commissioner said increasing to 18 games is the “logical” next step in beefing up the regular season. To do so, the NFL would reduce the number of preseason games down to two.

“We would keep within that 20-game framework,” Goodell said. “We went to 16 and four, and now 17 and three. So 18 and two is a logical step. But we would only do that with the players.”

Rams are coming off a short week. Here’s how they’ve adjusted

Not only will the Eagles be playing at home Sunday, they’ll face a Los Angeles Rams team forced to travel across the country and coming off a short week.

The Rams defeated the Minnesota Vikings Monday night to punch their ticket to the divisional round, giving them one less day to practice and prepare for the Eagles. On top of that, the game was held in Arizona due to the deadly fires in Los Angeles, further complicating their travel schedules.

Since the Monday wild-card game was introduced in the 2021 season, winning teams are just 1-3 in the divisional round. That one win was by the Rams, who defeated Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a short week in the divisional round on their way to a Super Bowl championship.

'I hate Eagles fans!' Rams defender doesn't hold back

Tell us what you really think, Jared.

Los Angeles Rams rookie edge rusher Jared Verse doesn't love Eagles fans, and he wasn’t afraid to say it loud and repeatedly in an interview with the Los Angeles Times reporter Gary Klein Thursday.

“I hate Eagles fans,” Verse told the L.A. Times, repeating the phrase multiple times. “They’re so annoying."

Eagles injury report

Dallas Goedert (illness) was the only player on the active roster to miss practice Thursday.

Brown was a limited participant (knee/rest) as the Eagles continue to manage his workload.

The rest of the team fully participated in Thursday’s session, including the four Eagles who rested Wednesday: Saquon Barkley, Cam Jurgens, Mailata, and Josh Sweat.

Is Dallas Goedert in the Eagles' long-term plans?

It has been a frustrating season for Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert, who missed practice Thursday due to an illness.

Before the knee injury that forced him to miss four games, Goedert missed three games from Week 7 to Week 9 with a hamstring injury. Ten games marked the fewest he has played during his seven-season NFL career and put his per-season average of games played at just 12.4 over the last five seasons. The 30-year-old’s two regular-season touchdowns were a career low, and his 42 receptions also are his fewest since he caught 33 passes during his rookie season in 2018.

When healthy, Goedert is one of the best tight ends in the NFL, but the Eagles also showed they can win plenty of games without him, which makes this upcoming offseason an interesting one at the position as next season is the last year of the four-year, $57 million extension Goedert signed in 2021.
