Trace McSorley is headed down I-95 after getting drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in the sixth round of the NFL draft.

McSorley was the fifth Penn State player picked in this year’s draft, he’ll join Lamar Jackson and Robert Griffin III in the team’s quarterback room this training camp, assuming he stays under center. ESPN analysts Chris Mortensen and Louis Riddick noted that the 2016 Big Ten Championship Game MVP could be used in a similar role as Saints’ do-it-all quarterback Taysom Hill.

“They’re trying to collect weapons in a multitude of different ways that have different skill sets that complement each other, and how Trace is going to be used remains to be seen,” Riddick said on the broadcast. "Maybe they do have a package for him at quarterback, maybe they have a package as a guy who comes in and plays running back and they just want to get the ball in his hands and let him carry it.

Ravens’ general manager Eric DeCosta told ESPN they drafted McSorley as a quarterback, but see his versatility. McSorley declined to work out at different positions during the scouting combine, but did defensive back drills at his Pro Day.

The other local players selected include:

Ryquell Armstead

The Temple running back was taken by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round after rushing for 2,812 yards and 34 touchdowns during his four-year career at Temple. The 5-foot-10, 220-pound back stood out in the Senior Bowl this January and ran a 4.45-second 40-yard dash at the combine.

Shareef Miller

The Eagles took their second Penn State player on Day 3, drafting the George Washington grad in the fourth round.

Miller, 22, is 6-foot-4 and 254 pounds and ran the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds at the combine. He was a standout for the Nittany Lions defense last season, totaling 7.5 sacks and earning third-team all-Big Ten honors. He started the past two years at Penn State before declaring early for the NFL draft.

Michael Dogbe

The Temple defensive tackle was taken by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round. He will join former teammate and Hasson Reddick on the Arizona defensive line this training camp.
