Eagles obtain wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks in trade with Packers
The Eagles enhanced their wideout depth in a deal that sends a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick to Green Bay.

The Eagles are continuing to alter their receiving corps, acquiring wideout Dontayvion Wicks from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick, a league source confirmed to The Inquirer on Friday.
Wicks will sign a one-year extension upon his trade to Philadelphia, which would keep him under contract through 2027. According to ESPN, the extension is worth $12.5 million.
Wicks, who turns 25 in June, has spent the last three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, the team that selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 draft out of Virginia. He was one of a plethora of targets in Green Bay’s offense last year, which also included wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson and tight end Tucker Kraft. Wicks finished third on the team in targets with 46, hauling in 30 receptions (No. 5 on the Packers) for 332 yards (No. 5) and two touchdowns.
Despite Doubs’ departure in free agency for the New England Patriots this offseason, the corps of Packers receivers remained crowded. With Watson, Jayden Reed, and Matthew Golden set to become the team’s top receivers in 2026, Wicks became expendable.
The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Wicks had his best season in 2023, his rookie year, when he posted a career-high 581 yards on 39 receptions. He also scored four touchdowns, which ranked second to his output in 2024 (five). In 2023, Wicks averaged +0.44 expected points added per target, which was the sixth-most among receivers, according to Next Gen Stats.
He has room for improvement as he embarks upon the next chapter of his NFL career. According to PFF, Wicks has had 14 drops (11.1% of his on-target passes) over the course of his career.
Wicks split time lined up wide (47.8%) and in the slot (48.6%) last season, according to Pro Football Focus. However, he has primarily lined up on the outside over his three seasons (58.9%, compared to 39.3% in the slot).
Last season, Wicks was frequently used in motion. Going into the second-to-last game of the year, Wicks was in motion on 79 snaps, which was the most of any Packers skill player at the time, per Next Gen Stats. He turned 11 total touches while in motion into 83 yards and two touchdowns.
Will Wicks do more of the same in Philadelphia? The receiver is set to reunite with Sean Mannion, the new Eagles offensive coordinator who spent two seasons with the Packers, first as an offensive assistant (2024) and then as the quarterbacks coach (2025). Ryan Mahaffey, the Eagles’ tight ends coach and run game coordinator, also spent the last two years as Wicks’ wide receivers coach.
The acquisition of Wicks comes as uncertainty surrounding A.J. Brown’s future with the Eagles has lingered throughout the offseason. Including Wicks, the Eagles have made three additions to the receiving corps since the start of the new league year last month. The team also signed Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore to one-year deals.
For now, behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, Wicks is penciled into the WR3/4 role with Hollywood Brown. Johnny Wilson and Darius Cooper headlining the depth behind them. However, given the size of the Eagles’ investment in Wicks, both from a draft capital and a contract value perspective, the Eagles could have a greater role in mind for him.
If Brown is ultimately traded, June 1 is a date to watch. The Eagles could spread out his dead cap over two seasons if they trade him after that date, instead of absorbing it all in 2026 if they were to do it before.
