Ginger Baker brings Jazz Confusion to New Hope

Audiences and critics look for at least two Ginger Bakers. Some expect Baker, 74, to be the frenetic firebrand ripping through Cream classics like "Sunshine of Your Love" (to say nothing of the percussive overdrive he lent to Blind Faith, Fela Kuti, and Public Image Limited). Others recall the 2012 documentary Beware of Mr. Baker and figure he'll grouse and crack someone across the face, as he did the film's director.
