The first wave of acts that will play this year’s Philadelphia Folk Fest has been announced.

Boulder, Colo. bluegrass and country jam band Leftover Salmon, touring behind their 2025 album Let’s Party About It, will headline the long running fest. It will be held, as always, at the Old Pool Farm in Upper Salford Township near Schwenksville in Montgomery County.

This year’s 63rd iteration of the fest will be staged on the weekend of Aug. 14-16, plus the traditional Thursday night campers-only concert on Aug. 13.

Along with Leftover Salmon, acts announced so far include veteran folkie and frequent Fest performer Tom Rush, country-folk songwriter extraordinaire Mary Gauthier, and Georgia-born blues-rock singer-guitarist Eddie 9V, who has a new album due this year on Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label.

Louisiana accordion player and bandleader Terrance Simien will play with his band the Zydeco Experience, as will the four women of Colorado acoustic band Big Richard, whose self-proclaimed aim is to “play rage fiddle tunes and smash the patriarchy.”

Celtic band Runa, whose members are based in Philadelphia, Nashville, and Chicago, is also on the bill, as is Brooklyn bluegrass-swing trio Damn Tall Buildings.

And kudos to the Fest for booking Kieran Kane & Rayna Gellert, the first rate acoustic duo featuring Kane, formerly of 1980s country hitmakers the O’Kanes, and his songwriting partner and fiddler Gellert. Together, the two have released four understated and affecting albums, most recently last year’s Volume 4.

Philly songwriter John Flynn, who served as emcee in 2025 and carried on the Dad joke-telling tradition of much-loved late Folk Fest fixture Gene Shay, will return as host and will also perform.

More acts will be announced in the coming weeks. Discounted early bird tickets and more information is available at folkfest.org.
