Flyers sign young goaltender Kirill Ustimenko
Ustimenko was a third-round selection in the 2017 NHL draft.

The Flyers are loaded with talented, young goalies, and another one, Kirill Ustimenko, signed an entry-level deal Wednesday with the organization.
A third-round selection in the 2017 NHL draft, the 6-foot-3, 187-pound Ustimenko starred on Russia’s junior level last season for Dynamo St. Petersburg, compiling a 30-12-3 record with a 1.78 goals-against average and .927 save percentage. The Belarus native set a single-season league record with 12 shutouts.
Next season, Ustimenko, 20, will probably play for the Flyers’ ECHL affiliate in Reading. He signed a three-year deal worth $825,833 per season, according to capfriendly.com.
The Flyers are loaded with promising goalies, including Carter Hart, 20, who is expected to handle most of their No. 1 duties in 2019-20, and Felix Sandstrom, 22, the likely starter with the AHL’s Phantoms.
In addition, 19-year-old goalie prospect Samuel Ersson (1.95 GAA, .933 save percentage) was rookie of the year in Sweden’s top minor league last season and starred in the World Junior Championships.
