The search for 13-year-old Brittany Snodgrass, who was reported missing Wednesday from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Burlington County, ended Thursday after authorities found her in Southampton Township.
"She is safe with her family," said Air Force Airman Tara Williamson, a base spokeswoman. The overnight search ended when a driver spotted the teen walking alone along Route 206, near the Red Lion State Police Barracks.
On Wednesday, the teenager got off a school bus about 3 p.m. on Ash Street, which is on the base and part of her daily routine, said Air Force Staff Sgt. David Carbajal, a base spokesman.
It appeared that she left on her own "free will," and there were no apparent signs of foul play, Carbajal said.
Because Brittany did not return to her home on the base, officials and volunteers conducted a door-to-door search and scoured the nearby Pine Barrens for signs of the girl.
