TRENTON A former clerk with the state Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Jeanette Rodriguez, 42, of Mount Laurel, was indicted Monday on charges of stealing $21,055 in a scheme involving unemployment benefits last year.

Rodriguez, 42, is charged with official misconduct, computer theft, and theft by deception, according to an announcement from Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman.

Between June 20 and Sept. 18, she allegedly redirected benefits that were being paid under six unemployment claims to her own bank account.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the New Jersey Department of Labor-Office of Internal Audit and the Division of Criminal Justice Specialized Crimes Bureau. The division has a toll-free tip line - 1-866-TIPS-4CJ - where corruption, financial crime and other illegal activities can be reported confidentially.
