Four injured in Paoli car crash

PAOLI Four people were injured in a two-car crash in Paoli shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday in which a trapped senior citizen had to be cut from his crushed van.

PAOLI Four people were injured in a two-car crash in Paoli shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday in which a trapped senior citizen had to be cut from his crushed van.

Charles Knight, 75, of Haverford, was in serious condition at Paoli Hospital after the Chrysler minivan he was driving northbound on Route 252 was hit by a Toyota Prius that crossed over from the southbound lane, police said Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred near Hilltop Road in Paoli.

The driver of the Prius, 25-year-old Sabina Broberg of New York City, and the two passengers of the van, 73-year-old Mary Knight of Haverford and 72-year-old Frank Szabo of Berwyn, were also taken to Paoli Memorial Trauma Center, where they were listed in good condition, police said. All three were set to be released soon, police said Wednesday afternoon.

Police diverted traffic in both directions near the scene of the accident throughout the afternoon.
