PHILADELPHIA Diesel fuel that leaked from a passing truck caused two car accidents and shut down a portion of Bustleton Avenue for four hours Saturday, city officials said.

One person suffered minor injuries in one of the accidents, officers from the Seventh District in Northeast Philadelphia said.

It wasn't clear who was responsible for the spill, which stretched from Byberry Road to County Line Road, police said. That area of Bustleton was closed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., police said.

The incident was investigated by Northeast detectives and the Philadelphia Fire Department Hazardous Materials unit, police said.

A fire official said Saturday night hazmat unit members used sand to soak up the fuel.
