Monday’s South Jersey roundup: Late-game surge leads Palmyra baseball past Florence, 9-7

Palmyra scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth to complete a 9-7 comeback win against Florence in Burlington County League baseball action on Monday. The Panthers capitalized on six errors by the Flashes. David Gross picked up three hits including a double and drove in three runs, while teammate Gio Narhwold went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Collingswood edged Riverside, 5-4. The Rams got on the board in the fourth after falling behind, 5-0, stringing together three runs and then another one in the fifth. Collingswood took advantage of five Riverside errors, led by Eric Rollins’ two hits and two RBIs.

Bishop Eustace fell to Pope John Paul II, 3-1, off of a two-run home run from Chris Sabo in the eighth. The Crusaders threatened in the bottom frame with the bases loaded and one out, but weren’t able to capitalize. Jake Wells and Matt Orlando both went seven innings for each team. Wells struck out 10 for Pope John and Orlando gave up one run and struck out nine for the Crusaders.

Sean Broadhurst pitched a complete game against Norview (VA) to give Deptford a 9-2 win. Broadhurst struck out nine while Brian Judge had two doubles and drove in a pair of runs for the Spartans. Matt Lombardi was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs.

Sal Carracino took the win on the mound and had two hits in Gloucester’s 4-2 win over Atlantic Shores Christian (VA). Carracino went 2-for-4 with a double, run and an RBI, as both teams combined for seven hits.

St. Joseph beat Haddon Township, 5-2. The Wildcats scored all five runs in the first and second innings as Bobby Hyndman powered the team, going 3-for-4 with a double. Nick Squazzo had a pair of hits including a triple for the Hawks.

Tyler Cannon went yard in Gloucester Catholic’s 10-0 rout of Clayton. The Rams scored five in the third inning to make it a 7-0 game, limiting the Clippers to just three hits.

Camden Catholic beat Camden, 10-0, in five innings. The Irish came out hot, plating five in the first inning, as Vince Blattenberger went 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Pennsville scored four runs in the final two innings to come back and beat Woodstown, 4-2.

Five Buena players tallied extra base hits in its 17-0 win against Winslow Township. Kacey Jones led the Chiefs with three hits and two RBIs, while Olivia Dortu had a home run and Nat Ampole struck out seven.

Emma Wariwanchik’s four hits and four runs led Pennsville past Woodstown, 14-0. Danielle Werts, Jade Hassler and Paige Wilson each had two RBIs for the Eagles. April Hartman was dominant on the mound, striking out eight while keeping Woodstown scoreless.

Gloucester scored four runs in both the second and fifth innings to outlast Williamstown, 11-6. Hayley Welsh was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs. Vanesa Pino picked up the win and had two hits and two runs for the Lions. Anna Cirucci led the Braves, going 3-for-4 with a double and a pair of RBIs.

Mattison Palentchar’s walk-off single drove in Bailey Enoch, lifting Burlington Township over Moorestown, 1-0.

Bella Runyan’s seven goal day gave Williamstown an 11-10 win over Moorestown Friends. The Wolverines were down 7-6 going into halftime before holding the Foxes to three second half goals.

Haddonfield dominated the first half against Holy Cross on the way to a 17-7 win. The Bulldogs were up 14-1 at the break as Caroline Beckett had a game-high four goals for Haddonfield, who saw nine players score a goal. Ashley Campo had a hat trick, as did Holy Cross’ Victoria Sciortino.
