Tuesday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Haverford School boys' basketball cruises past Perkiomen School

Boys' Basketball

Christian Ray scored 20 points and Tyler Seward added 17 Tuesday as the Haverford School boys' basketball team beat the Perkiomen School, 59-42. Ray and Seward combined for 20 of the Fords' 24 third quarter points to pull away from the Panthers. Jameel Brown notched 11 points.

Shipley edged Springside Chestnut Hill in overtime, 66-60. Khalil Farmer scored 15 points, Joey Gruzinski added 13, and Chaz Owens and Khai Champion had 11 apiece. Ray Somerville recorded eight points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks.

Mark Butler’s 21 points led Penn Charter past Abington Friends, 67-51. Ryan Holmes recorded 15 points and Aaron Reisman added 13.

Jah Aiken erupted for 25 points in Cristo Rey’s 76-21 win over City School. Fred Johnson added 12 points.

New Foundations defeated Mercy Career Tech, 80-64. Jordan Gombs tallied 29 points and Tim Ragan scored 16.

Girls' Basketball

Hayley Hunt notched 14 points and six rebounds as Penn Charter edged Abington Friends, 51-43. Carmen Williams recorded nine points, five rebounds and five assists, and Kaitlyn Carter had nine points, seven rebounds and three assists. Kara Kniezewski scored nine points and Maya Gerlach added nine points, five rebounds and two blocks.

Caroline Clark tallied 13 points, five rebounds and three steals to help Springside Chestnut Hill beat Cristo Rey, 59-34.

Octavia Preston scored 21 points and Alize Martinez added 15 in Mercy Career Tech’s 48-39 victory over Overbrook.
