Tuesday’s Southeastern Pa. Roundup: Conestoga beats Coatesville softball in nine-inning walkoff

The top games and highlights from Tuesday's Southeastern Pennsylvania action.

Faith Walker drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning of Conestoga’s 5-4 win over Coatesville in a non-league softball matchup on Tuesday. Walker went 3-for-5 with a double. Arianna Lucci had the game-tying RBI in the bottomof the seventh inning for the Pioneers. Losing pitcher Natalie Florschutz struck out 12 and had two RBIs.

Nazareth Academy scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Gwynedd Mercy, 4-3, in Catholic Academies action. Natalie Minitti and Stephanie Marino each doubled for the Pandas.

Villa Maria beat St. Basil, 5-1, in other Catholic Academies action. Natalie Bacallao hit a homer for the Hurricanes. Regan Bentley went 2-for-3 and drove in St. Basil’s lone run in the first inning.

Bonner-Prendergast beat Conwell-Egan, 8-5, in the Catholic League. Bailey Rugh and Mia Falcone hit doubles for the Pandas. Cori Jones hit two doubles and a triple for Conwell-Egan.

Archbishop Ryan shut out Hallahan, 5-0. The Ragdolls scored three runs in the top of the first inning. Riley Nehassey hit a double for Ryan.

Penn Charter beat Episcopal Academy, 7-1, in Inter-Ac League action to give the Churchwomen their first loss of the season and remain undefeated. Winning pitcher Anastasia Lewis threw a complete game with three hits and nine strikeouts. Abbey Quinn went 3-for-4 with a homer for the Quakers.

Brit Hubler went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Hatboro-Horsham’s 8-3 win over Upper Dublin in the Suburban One League’s American Conference. Mikayla Fedele went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Kristen Myers also had two hits and an RBI.

Philadelphia Academy Charter beat Northeast, 7-5, in Public League Independence Division play. Gina Olivieri earned the win. Jordan Yaletsko and Kayla Rockey each had triples for Philadelphia Academy.

Franklin Towne Charter beat String Theory Academy, 12-6. Julia Carter had a single and a double. J’ana Bishop had a single and an RBI, and Jaydee Ocasio hit two singles for the Coyotes.

Rush beat Masterman, 10-2, in other Public League action. Jaime D’Agostino went 5-for-5 with five RBIs for Rush. She had more than half of the team’s eight hits. Winning pitcher Corinne Mundy helped limit Masterman to just one hit.

Mastbaum scored five runs in the top of the second inning to beat Parkway West, 15-13, in the Public League’s National Division. Parkway West scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning as it tried to come back. Gianni Nunez hit a homer for Mastbaum.

Baseball

DJ Sims pitched more than five innings of relief to help Archbishop Ryan beat Conwell-Egan, 4-3, in 10 innings. Sims entered the game in the fourth inning and finished it, allowing just two hits without walking a batter. He also had nine strikeouts.

Germantown Academy scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to beat Haverford School, 7-2. Grant Giampalmi hit a three-run homer during the rally. Matt Brittingham went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a homer for the Patriots. Jack Popolizio drove in two runs for Germantown Academy. Winning pitcher Will Champlain threw two scoreless innings in relief.

Constitution beat Kensington, 12-8, in Public League Liberty Division action. Winning pitcher Fred O’Rourke was one of four Generals who hit doubles. Elias Meredith had a double and a triple for Constitution. The Generals scored seven runs in the fourth inning to break a 4-4 tie.

In other league action, George Washington beat GAMP, 6-5. Louis Beltre hit a double for the Eagles. Winning pitcher Luke Redding and Robert Barr each hit a double.

Esperanza beat Olney, 12-9, in Public League Independence action that lasted more than four hours. Esperanza’s Bryan Rodriguez made a diving catch with a runner on base to end the game. Harry Gonzales and Ray Arias each hit a home run for the Toros. Arias also hit a double.

Springfield Montco scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Abington, 7-6. Max Perry hit a three-run homer in the third inning of the Spartans’ Suburban One American win.

Hatboro-Horsham scored seven runs in the third inning of its 8-1 win over Upper Dublin. Jimmy Tooley, Benny Wilson and Bradan Mallon each had two RBIs.

Girls’ Lacrosse

St. Hubert scored 10 first-half goals to beat Lansdale Catholic, 14-10, in the Catholic League. Sarah Hartigan scored six goals for the Bambies and Payton Pugh had five. Tori Wolstenholme had a goal and three assists. Sophia Trainor made 10 saves for St. Hubert.

Three players had hat tricks in Archbishop Carroll’s 19-1 win over Bonner-Prendergast. Amber Germer scored a game-high four goals. Kellie Anne Matey and Kiley Mottice each scored three goals.

George School beat Abington Friends, 17-10, in the Friends Schools League. Emily Matson scored a program-record 10 goals. Alexandra Long scored five goals for the Cougars. Ally Muller scored a team-high six goals for Abington Friends.

In Inter-Ac play, Notre Dame beat Springside Chestnut Hill, 17-9. Claire Gola scored four goals, including the 100th of her career. Georgie Gorelick led the Irish with six goals.

Girls’ Track and Field

Marple Newtown hosted Central League rivals Springfield Delco and Ridley. Springfield Delco beat Marple Newtown, 92-46. Ridley beat Marple Newtown, 111-34, and defeated Springfield Delco, 93-53.

Ridley’s Brianna Foster won the 100-meter dash in 12.62 seconds and won the 200 in 26 seconds. Ridley’s Meghan Lynch won the 100 hurdles, long jump and triple jump. She had a long jump of 16 feet, 7.75 inches and notched a mark of 34 feet, 8.75 inches in the triple jump. Paige Shaika won the high jump and the pole vault for the Green Raiders.

Springfield Delco’s Renee Stevenson won the shot put and the discus throw. Marple Newtown’s Donna Holt won the 800 in 2:31.75, and Meredith Schrock won the 1600 in 5:30.78 for the Tigers. They also ran on Marple Newtown’s winning 4x400 team.

Boys’ Track and Field

Wissahickon beat Abington, 93-57, in a Suburban One League American Conference matchup. Wissahickon’s Robert Wilson won the 200 in 22.9 seconds, finishing one-tenth of a second in front of his teammate Isaiah Marc. Christian McCarry won the long jump and the high jump for the Trojans. He also won the 110 high hurdles in 15.4 seconds. Abington’s Alex Horne won the shot put and the discus throw.

Boys’ Tennis

Conestoga defeated Upper Darby, 6-1, in Central League action. Peter Auslander beat Zoe Lor, 6-2, 6-1 in second singles. Jack Ginter earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in the final singles matchup. Kevin Tao and Jack Hyams also earned a 6-0, 6-0 win.

Upper Dublin’s Brandon Caban beat Matt Walton, 6-4, 6-2, to improve to 15-0. He is undefeated in Central League play with two matches left.
