Friday’s Southeastern Pa. Football roundup: Dapree Bryant, Ricky Ortega lead Coatesville football past Cumberland Valley

With the game tied in the first quarter, senior wideout Dapree Bryant worked his magic. The Villanova recruit ran for a 68-yard touchdown on a fake punt that gave Coatesville life and led the Red Raiders football team to a 28-7 win over Cumberland Valley on Friday.

Bryant wasn’t done after that return. In fact, he went onto score the next two Coatesville touchdowns. Senior quarterback Ricky Ortega, another Villanova recruit, hooked up with Bryant for two passing touchdowns. Their longest score went for 82-yards to put the Red Raiders up 21-7 midway through the third quarter.

Artie Burgess also caught a touchdown pass from Ortega. Coatesville is now 1-1 after losing its opener to Harrisburg.

Kyle McCord went 17-for-35 for 284 passing yards, three touchdowns and one interception to help St. Joe’s Prep upset St. John’s (D.C), the fourth ranked team in the MaxPreps Top 25, 34-30. The Hawks are ranked as the 12th best team, according to the rankings.

Malik Cooper hauled in five catches for 158 yards and two touchdowns. Kolbe Burrell had 22 carries for 100 yards. Marvin Harrison Jr. caught a touchdown pass.

Joe Wileczek’s 50-yard punt return for a touchdown, along with a four scores in the first quarter, led West Chester East past Sun Valley, 41-7. Wileczek added two more rushing touchdowns. Kyle Chichanowsky had three rushing scores of his own. His 62-yard rushing touchdown made it 13-0 in the first quarter.

Damier Johnson had two rushing touchdowns to help Father Judge top Cardinal O’Hara, 28-6. The Lions had an opportunity in the third quarter to have a sustainable drive and put points on the board, but a fumble gave the ball back to Crusaders.

Johnson made O’Hara pay on the following drive with his second touchdown of the game to extend Father Judge’s lead to three scores. Aidan Dooley tossed touchdown passes to Matt Comas and Shane McGovern.

Cole Sprague scored a rushing touchdown late in the fourth quarter for the Lions.

Central Bucks West leaned on Jack Fallon’s three rushing touchdowns to beat Quakertown, 35-7. Nick Tumolo and Jack Fileppo added rushing touchdowns.

Christian Pierce set the tone for Plymouth Whitemarsh. He returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown as the Colonials defeated Norristown, 48-7. Brian Dresnin recorded three rushing touchdowns. Michael Paciello hauled in a receiving touchdown and had a 6-yard rushing score.

Will Howard connected with Julian Williams for three passing touchdowns to lead Downingtown West past Neshaminy, 48-6. Tyriq Lewis had an 85-yard rushing touchdown.

Jason Christianson had three rushing touchdowns in Central Bucks South’s 35-8 win over Council Rock South. Colin Crabtree and Sean Smith each caught touchdown passes.

John Prochniak and Ibo Pio combined for six rushing touchdowns to help Strath Haven down Central League foe Ridley, 49-13, to improve to 3-0 on the season. Jaris Adams had one rushing touchdown.

Tamir Berthau had two passing touchdowns and one rushing as Abington edged Cheltenham, 19-7. Caleb Baker caught the receiving touchdown.

Penn Charter dominated in the first half to beat Conwell-Egan, 44-21. Kyle Jones and Aaron Maione hooked up for three touchdowns passes, including a 36-yard strike to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Matt Marshall had two rushing touchdowns. Colin Schumm returned an interception for a touchdown.

Sa’ood Gibson had a 56-yard punt return for a score and two rushing touchdowns to lead Boys’ Latin past Bristol, 40-0. Jibril Jones added a rushing touchdown and Qadry Taylor recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Kareem McAdams rushed for more than 200-yards in Upper Darby’s 38-0 victory over Harriton.

Brett Barber’s 40-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter helped Springfield (Delco) edge Radnor, 10-7.

Isaiah Taylor had five rushing touchdowns and more than 250-yards on the ground as Pottsgrove topped Boyertown, 41-21.

Springside Chestnut Hill beat Central, 41-0, thanks to Aaron Rascoe’s three rushing touchdowns. A.J. Graham had a passing and rushing touchdown. Ke’Shawn Williams had a receiving touchdown and C.J. Lynch added a rushing score.

Nasair English’s 54-yard rushing touchdown to lead Lincoln past Roxborough, 6-0. Zares Scott and Khalil Edwards each had one fumble recovery. Mephiki Lopez had one interception.
