Friday’s Southeastern Pa. roundup: Father Judge and Pope John Paul win on free throws in final seconds

Shane Dooley made two fouls shots with 1.3 seconds left as Father Judge defeated George Washington, 47-45, in the Father Judge Boys' Basketball Tip-Off Tournament on Friday. Jack Boyce led Father Judge with 12 points, and Justin Blith scored 11 points. Dooley finished with nine points.

The tournament’s other game was also filled with drama. Drew McKeon knocked down a pair of free throws in the final seconds to give Pope John Paul II a 60-58 win over Bartram.

Naheem McLeod scored 41 points in Plymouth Whitemarsh’s 66-61 win over Norristown.

Deuce Turner scored 17 points in Malvern Prep’s 62-51 win over St. Joseph’s Prep. Rahdir Hicks added 14 points, and Spencer Cochran scored 13 points.

La Salle topped Springside Chestnut Hill, 58-52, as Allen Powell scored 17 points. Zach Crisler added 14 points, and Konrad Kiska chipped in 11 points.

Damon McGovern’s 17 points guided Neshaminy to 50-48 victory over Marple Newtown.

Jhalil Allen scored 18 points as Science Leadership (Beeber) defeated GAMP, 68-46. Brandon Richardson added 15 points, and Asa Brooks scored 10 points. Shane Whiteley scored 22 points for GAMP.

Eric Dixon led Abington with 29 points and 14 rebounds in a 58-51 win over Gonzaga College (D.C.) in the Gonzaga DC Classic. Lucas Monroe scored 16 points.

Steve Payne led Lower Merion with 22 points, and Jack Forrest followed with 20 points in the Aces' 68-52 win over Taylor Allderdice in the Marsha Marsh Classic.

Jaheim Aiken scored 30 points and added seven assists, six rebounds, and six steals as Cristo Rey defeated Cross Christian, 81-40.

Aaron Dixon’s 18 points paced Southern in a 70-53 win over Parkway Center City. Stephan Weatherly added 16 points, six steals, and nine rebounds.

Christian Ray tallied 31 points and 18 rebounds as the Haverford School defeated Academy of New Church, 56-48, in the Don McBride Classic.

Friends' Central topped Pennington, 67-64, behind 27 points from Ed Holland. Omar Nichols added 19 points.

Sean Sylvester scored 12 points, and Greg Sylvester chipped in nine points as Holy Ghost Prep defeated Beechcroft, 44-42, in the Bethel Park Tip-Off Tournament.

Brandon Aponte’s 12 points paced Esperanza in a 49-45 victory over Edison. Nafee Wilson scored 11 points, and Giovanni Rios scored 10 points.

James Jones scored 18 points as Roxborough defeated Mastbaum, 66-38.

Keshaun Hammonds' 21 points guided Constitution to a 78-62 win over West Catholic. Jabari Merrit scored 17 points.

Walter Hester poured in 31 points and grabbed 10 steals for Paul Robeson in an 84-38 victory over Parkway Northwest in the Germantown Community Tournament. Nyaim Smith added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Zach Lezanic led Conestoga with 20 points in a 73-67 victory over Downingtown West in the Unionville Tip-Off Tournament.

Aaron Lemon-Warren’s 21 points and 12 rebounds led Archbishop Ryan to a 60-34 win over Simon Gratz.

Connor Wallace scored 19 points as New Hope-Solebury defeated Upper Merion, 49-36. Topher Taylor scored 13 points and grabbed 13 points.

Olney defeated Conwell-Egan, 69-42, as Tyrone Williams netted 21 points. Zaire Davis and DeShawn Prince both scored 10 points in the Tacony Tournament. Tacony Charter defeated Calvary Christian, 56-47, in the other game of the tournament.

Drew Grow scored 24 points, and Carson Curry scored 23 points as Plumstead Christian topped Valley Forge Baptist, 75-54.

Jamil Manigo scored 24 points, and Seneca Willoughby added 13 points in Bishop McDevitt’s 74-57 victory over Phil-Mont Christian.

Nick Roggio scored 16 points in Central Bucks East’s 62-39 win over Boyertown.

Girls' Basketball

Friends' Central’s Raanee Smith made four free throws in the final minute to secure a 40-37 win over Springside Chestnut Hill. Smith finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds and made seven of her eight foul shots in the fourth quarter. Madison Smith added 10 points.

Camryn Harvie scored 24 points, and Hannah Sieg scored 18 as Friends Select topped Mercy Career Tech, 58-54, in overtime.

Freshman Nicole Timko scored 18 points for Methacton in her first varsity game in the Lady Warrior Classic. Syndey Tornetta scored 10 points. In the other matchup in the Lady Warrior Classic, Lansdale Catholic topped Kennett, 53-45.

Bean Hughes scored 16 points as Upper Moreland defeated Palumbo, 40-29, in the Bristol Tip-off Tournament. Kaiya Herb added eight points on two three-point shots.

Isabella Vazquez poured in 30 points for Washington in a 49-34 victory over Dobbins. Ireland Smith chipped in nine points.

Nyah Johnson scored 10 points as Bishop McDevitt topped Phil-Mont Christian, 26-23, in the Oreland Lions Tournament.

In the other game of the Oreland Lions Tournament, Carly Mulvaney scored 17 points and Mia Kolb added 15 points for Jenkintown in a 56-20 win over Springfield (Montco).

Constitution defeated Mastbaum, 54-24, behind 15 points from Jourdan Johnson. Parisha Blount and Nariyah Turner both scored 12 points.

Amirah Ali tallied 16 points, three assists, and five steals as Parkway Northwest topped Bodine, 34-23. Shante Robinson grabbed 13 rebounds.

West Chester Rustin topped Coatesville, 59-54, behind Grace Piona’s 21 points. Becca Magrone added 16 points.

Amiyah Edney-Holmes scored 20 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in West Catholic’s 61-20 win over Abington Friends in the Galloping Ghosts Classic. Kyliah Singeltary also had a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 boards.

Phyllis Fugah had 20 points and eight steals in Robeson’s 35-30 win over West Philadelphia. Khailynne Mitchell added 10 points.

Marissa McDonald led West Chester East with 24 points in a 51-39 victory over Chester Charter.

Radnor defeated Bishop Shanahan, 49-35, as Ellie Mueller scored 19 points. Brienne Williams added 10 points.

Denae Carter had 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in St. Basil’s 47-36 win over Abington Heights. Casey Remolde scored 11 points in the Jim Church Classic. On the other side of the bracket, Souderton defeated St. Hubert, 52-13.

Diana Rantz scored 14 points, and Avery White added 12 points as Owen J. Roberts defeated Council Rock South, 48-44, in the Owen J. Roberts Tip-Off Tournament.
