Cassandra Farrell doubled and Hannah Sieg tripled to support Mia Cohen as the Friends Select softball team clinched its third Friends School League title in four years with a 9-2 triumph over Shipley on Wednesday. The Falcons scored three runs apiece in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.

Amanda Stapf picked up the win and went 5-for-5 with a double to lead Franklin Towne Charter over Masterman, 12-2, in the Public League quarterfinals. J’ana Bishop added four hits, including two doubles for the Coyotes, who will play Central on Thursday.
In other quarterfinals action, Jaime Dagostino doubled and Corinne Mundy earned the win on the mound as Rush toppled Lincoln, 12-2.

Paris Balonis laced a walk-off triple as Hallahan edged Conwell-Egan, 3-2, in the Catholic League first round. Kaitlin Banning and Mya Sulimay each contributed RBI singles for the Mouseketeers, who will play top-seeded Cardinal O’Hara on Friday.
In the Catholic League quarterfinals, Archbishop Ryan blanked Little Flower, 7-0, behind Dana Bell’s 11 strikeouts. She helped her own cause with a home run.
Baseball
Sam Chairman went 2-for-3 with four RBIs as Shipley captured its fifth straight Friends School League title with a 9-1 win over Westtown. Marco Grimming picked up the win, allowing a run in 4 1/3 innings. Ethan Kline recorded two hits and two RBIs for the Gators.

Marple Newtown swept two against Radnor, winning the first game, 8-7, in 11 innings, and routing the Raiders 11-1 in the second game. With the victories, the Tigers clinched their second straight Central League crown.
Jack Mulgrew produced the game-winning single for Marple Newtown in game one, after Owen Mathes and Joey Pettinelli both singled to start the inning. The game was picked up in the ninth inning after it was suspended on April 8.
In game two, Alden Mathes and Andrew Cantwell combined for 15 strikeouts. Mathes, Pettinelli, Mulgrew, and Alden each had two hits for the Tigers.

Joe Engart and Shane McWilliams each hit a double in Phila. Academy Charter’s 5-2 victory over Franklin Learning Center in the Public League second round.
In other second round action, Malachi Pippen hit a pair of doubles and Mohamed Diawara doubled and tripled as Boys’ Latin cruised past Mastbaum, 17-2.

Ben Mascio pitched a shutout with six strikeouts as Plymouth Whitemarsh captured its first Suburban One American Conference crown with a 6-0 triumph over Hatboro-Horsham.

Ben Birch smacked two doubles and drove in four runs in Lower Merion’s 8-6 win over Haverford High. Kyle Patlove also doubled and had two RBIs for the Aces.

Adam Grintz struck out 12 and allowed five hits as Downingtown West topped Oxford, 3-1. Eric Grintz lashed a double and had two RBIs for the Whippets.

Dylan Bittle doubled and knocked in two runs as Penncrest defeated Springfield Delco, 9-8. Joey Brown and Jeffrey Lunger each added a double and an RBI for the Lions.
Boys’ Tennis
La Salle’s Dan Porreca and Aidan Vesci beat St. Joseph’s Prep’s Aidan Harvey and Russell Seneca, 6-2, 6-1, to win the District 12 Class 3A doubles final and qualify for states. With the victory, the Explorers qualified for states
This is Porreca’s third straight final in doubles and he has won the last two. Last year he won with Owen DeAngelis.
Porreca and Vesci will play Peters Township on May 24 in Hershey.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Kellie Anne Matey scored five goals for Archbishop Carroll in a 19-6 decision over Archbishop Wood in the Catholic League semifinals. Amber Germer, Madison Henry, and Kiley Mottice each had three goals for the Patriots, who will play the winner of Bonner-Prendergast and Cardinal O’Hara on Monday.
