West Catholic girls’ basketball team to host alumni at Sunday’s game
This is the third year the girls’ program has held an alumni event, and coach Beulah Osueke said she expects about 35 women — dating back to the 1950s — to attend the event.

The present will meet the past at West Catholic on Sunday afternoon.
In addition to their non-league girls’ basketball game against visiting Central Bucks West at 2:30, the Burrs will host alumni day at the school.
This is the third year the girls’ program has held an alumni event, and coach Beulah Osueke said she expects about 35 former players — dating back to the 1950s — to attend the event.
“I think a lot of them support West Catholic monetarily, and it offers a unique opportunity for the alumni to connect with the school now,” said Osueke, who is in her sixth year as coach. “The alumni can see that the kids are upholding the values they held.”
Osueke said she used Facebook to track down some of the students who graduated many years ago. The current players and students are to honor the alumni at halftime and then host a reception at the school after the game. That way, Osueke said, her players can meet face-to-face with those who went before them.
“I really hope my players understand [West Catholic] is an extended community and family,” she said.
Next in Osueke’s plan is to combine her event with the boys’ program to make it even bigger.
