Rev. Luis Cortés Jr. receives The Philadelphia Award for his work at Esperanza

Luis Cortés Jr. has led the mission and vision for Esperanza, an ecosystem of Latino-centered institutions based in Hunting Park. He created the entities in the mid-1980s to strengthen disadvantaged Latino communities. After 35 years of work, Cortés holds many local, national and international awards, that recognize him for envisioning a path of success for El Barrio. On Nov. 4, he will be one of three who will receive The Philadelphia Award this year.
