A Philly streamer was hospitalized after being hit by a car. His livestream captured the crash.
Isaiah Thomas was on Day 34 of a cross-country walk from Philadelphia to California to raise money for a trade-based education program.

A Philadelphia Twitch streamer was hit by a car Tuesday while livestreaming his charity walk from Philadelphia to California.
Isaiah Thomas, known online as HMBL Zay, was walking along I-40 in Indiana when the crash occurred. Video from Thomas’ livestream shows him walking ahead of a dark blue Mazda that was following him as a safety vehicle. A silver sedan then rear-ended the Mazda, according to reports. The impact hurled the Mazda forward and into Thomas, who was knocked out of the camera’s view. The video shows Thomas’ cart being thrown into the air, and his belongings scattering across the highway.

Seconds later, Thomas returned to the camera and showed the damage around him. He appeared to be missing a shoe, and his knees were scraped. A woman off-camera asked if he was okay, while commenters who witnessed the crash on the livestream posted messages like, “OMG are u okay,” and “prayers up chat.”
Moments later, police and firefighters appear in the livestream and take Thomas to the hospital, where he said doctors were checking injuries to his neck, feet, and legs. In an Instagram video posted from a hospital bed, Thomas wore a neck brace and thanked people for checking on him.
“Appreciate everybody checking on me,” he said. “God is the greatest, I’m good, just running some tests right now.” Thomas did not respond to a request for comment. He was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon. He suffered a sprained ankle and bruising but had no major injuries. He is currently recovering in a hotel. Police are investigating the incident, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s office.
Thomas was on day 34 of his 100-day journey walking across the country when he was struck by the vehicle. He still plans to finish the walk and hopes to pick up where he left off sometime this weekend.
“We going to finish this race,” Thomas said in his Instagram video. “We ain’t going to let the devil win. We going to make sure we finish this marathon.”
Thomas, a 28-year-old pastor and a clothing designer, launched the 3,000-mile trek to raise $200,000 to build HBML University, a trade-based higher-education program he designed for students who can’t afford to attend college. According to Thomas’s GoFundMe page, HMBL University would offer trade-based classes in fields including CNA work, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and medical technology.
By Thursday, Thomas’ GoFundMe campaign had raised $52,000 of its $200,000 goal.
