A 47-year-old Camden man was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison Monday for his role in two apparently random 2012 muggings near Independence Hall.
A jury convicted Santos Centeno, 47, last year on multiple counts of robbery and assault - charges tied to the beating of three victims during the attacks.
Prosecutors argued that Centeno and his 26-year-old nephew, Baldwin Centeno, were part of a group of at least five men who targeted the passersby in separate incidents on June 15 and June 20, 2012. In both cases, the robbers took their cell phones and wallets and left their victims bloodied and bruised.
FBI investigators later traced the victims' cell phones to Santos Centeno's apartment in Camden.
Baldwin Centeno was sentenced in April to four years and nine months in prison.
