A 26-year-old Philadelphia man has been charged with the rape and robbery in April of another man he met on Grindr, a smartphone dating app for gay men, prosecutors said.
A 26-year-old Philadelphia man has been charged with the rape and robbery in April of another man he met on Grindr, a smartphone dating app for gay men, prosecutors said.
Douglass Casey allegedly attacked and robbed the man April 9, prosecutors said. He was arrested Saturday, according to court records, and charged with indecent deviant sexual intercourse, robbery, kidnapping for ransom, and related offenses.
He was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, and his next scheduled court appearance is June 26. He was sentenced in 2009 to 11 1/2 to 23 months in prison for unlawful use of a computer. In 2010, he was sent to prison for theft. He has pleaded guilty previously to forgery, writing bad checks, and other crimes.
