HADDONFIELD Tickets are going fast, organizers say, for the only day of the year when patrons can drink legally at the borough's only "tavern."

"A Tankard at the Tavern," scheduled for May 17, will benefit the historic Indian King Tavern museum, 233 Kings Highway E. Proceeds will go toward building renovations.

New this year, a noon session will feature a special four-course pairing featuring dishes such as Welsh rarebit fondue, beetroot deviled eggs, and chicken curry skewers. Brewers will explain the brewing process, ingredients, and subtleties of each beer.

The final two sessions will offer traditional English fare. Tuckahoe Brewing Co. and River Horse Brewing Co. will provide the ale; the British Chip Shop will cater.

Tickets, $50 each, are still available for Session 1 (noon to 2:30 p.m.) and Session 2 (3 to 5:30 p.m.). They can be purchased online via PayPal on www.indiankingfriends.org or at the law office of Joe Murphy, 30 Tanner St., Haddonfield, 856-429-9154, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All guests will receive a souvenir mug.
