An inaugural celebration marking Gov. Christie's second term will be held Jan. 21 at Ellis Island.

The event, announced Tuesday by the governor's Inaugural Committee, will cost $500 to attend.

About 2,000 people are expected to attend, similar to Christie's inaugural celebration in 2009 at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Christie chose Ellis Island as a symbol of "what the country represents for hope and opportunity and freedom for immigrants seeking a better life for themselves and their families," said committee spokesman Kevin Roberts.

Tickets are on sale at inaugural2014.org. The website also accepts contributions to the committee, which state law caps at $500. Money not spent will be donated to charity, Roberts said.

Roberts said more details will be announced on the celebration, as well as a morning inaugural service and Christie's midday swearing-in at the War Memorial in Trenton.
