Rabid raccoon killed by a dog is reported in Camden

CAMDEN A raccoon killed by a dog has tested positive for rabies, officials said Wednesday.

The raccoon was found Sunday in the city's Fairview neighborhood after a fight with a family dog. The raccoon was later tested for rabies in Trenton, and the Camden County Health Department learned Wednesday that it had the viral infection.

The dog had received rabies vaccinations before the incident and was expected to be OK, health officials said.
