GLASSBORO Rowan University is set to announce a new food services vendor later this week, after it told Sodexo it would end their decadelong relationship when the existing contract runs out in June.

Sodexo Campus Services at Rowan University will lay off 281 workers, according to a notice filed with the state. Its contract with Rowan ends June 30, and the company was notified earlier this month that the university would not be renewing it, university spokesman Joe Cardona said.

The new contractor is expected to begin July 1, he said. Details are being finalized on the contract with the new provider. All of the laid-off employees will be invited to apply for jobs with the new vendor, Cardona said.

No major change in the dining service is expected, he said.
