GLASSBORO - Rowan University and Glassboro will celebrate on Tuesday the opening of the Enterprise Center, the new home of the College of Graduate and Continuing Education, and the first parking garage in downtown Glassboro.
The $35 million center is part of the $300 Rowan Boulevard project, a public-private partnership. The 53,000-square-foot center developed by Nexus Properties will allow Rowan to expand its academic offerings, provide retail space and jobs, and bring Glassboro additional tax revenue, a Rowan spokeswoman said.
"The growth of our university is synonymous with the growth of the South Jersey economy," said Rowan president Ali Houshmand. "The new Enterprise Center provides the space we need to expand our graduate and doctoral programs in disciplines that will help propel the region's economy."
The next major part of the Rowan Boulevard project is the Penthouses on Rowan Boulevard, a mixed-use building also developed by Nexus. It will include apartments, penthouses, 25,000 square feet of health-care facilities, and 25,000 square feet of retail space, including restaurants. It is scheduled to open in August 2015.
A seasonal skating rink and park is slated to open later this fall near the future Town Square.
A ribbon-cutting will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday by university, borough, and Nexus officials.
