Teams advance in problem-solving competition

Nine teams from South Jersey have qualified for the Odyssey of the Mind World Final in May, having placed first or second in the state finals last weekend at Ewing High School.

Nine teams from South Jersey have qualified for the Odyssey of the Mind World Final in May, having placed first or second in the state finals last weekend at Ewing High School.

The teams will compete from May 28 through 31 at Iowa State University.

The winning teams are:

  1. Central Elementary School, Haddonfield, placed second in the Performance program.

  2. Collingswood Recreation Program middle schoolers placed second in the Vehicle program category.

  3. Haddonfield Memorial High School placed first in Performance problem.

  4. Haddon Heights High School placed second in Vehicle program.

  5. Hainesport School's middle schoolers placed first in Classics problem.

  6. Woodstown High School placed first in Classics problem.

  7. Woodstown Middle School placed first in Performance.

  8. Woodstown Middle School placed second in Classics problem.

  9. Vineland High School placed second in Technical problem.

A creative problem-solving program and competition, Odyssey was started in 1978 by Sam Micklus, a professor at what was then Glassboro State College. It is now operating in most states and 25 other countries.
