SICKLERVILLE - One of Camden County Technical Schools' own has been tapped to lead.

Patricia E. Fitzgerald, principal of the Pennsauken campus since 2001, has been named superintendent.

"After an extensive search process, we are pleased, but not surprised, that the best candidate came from within CCTS," said William Mink, CCTS board of education president. "The board is confident that Pat Fitzgerald will move the district from good to great while bringing innovative ideas to grow student achievement, staff expertise, and community involvement."

Fitzgerald, 54, of Haddonfield, has worked for the district for 26 years, serving as an assistant principal, recruitment coordinator, adult evening school supervisor, cooperative education coordinator, and business technology teacher.

Under Fitzgerald's leadership, the Pennsauken campus of CCTS has been named one of the nation's top high schools by U.S. News and World Report, said Timothy Bell, interim superintendent since 2012.
