Philadelphia hit-and-run leaves woman critical

A 52-year-old woman was critically injured when she was struck Monday morning at a North Philadelphia intersection by an SUV that fled the scene, police said.

A 52-year-old woman was critically injured when she was struck Monday morning at a North Philadelphia intersection by an SUV that fled the scene, police said.

Around 9:30 a.m. at Broad Street and Glenwood Avenue, the woman was hit by a late-model, dark-colored Dodge SUV, witnesses told police. The woman was taken to Temple University Hospital with major injuries, including a compound fracture of her left lower leg.

The SUV was last seen heading west on Glenwood. The right passenger mirror was broken as a result of the collision, police said. Anyone with information about the accident or driver can dial 911 or call the Accident Investigation District at 215-685-3180.
