A Pemberton Township man admitted Friday to fatally attacking his wife with a hammer and knife last year.

Kenneth D. Arsenault, 60, of Browns Mills, pleaded guilty in Superior Court in Mount Holly to aggravated manslaughter, prosecutors said. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 5 by Judge Gerard H. Breland, and faces a negotiated prison sentence of 27 years, prosecutors said.

About 10 p.m. on April 7, 2018, police officers were called to the couple’s home on the unit block of Cojita Trail on a report that a woman was screaming for help. Authorities said they found Arsenault on top of his wife, Lorraine, 61, outside their home.

She was taken to the Lourdes Emergency Department at Deborah, where she died about an hour later. It was unclear what sparked the attack.
